First edition.

The Australian and New Zealand Thoroughbred by Ross du Bourg is a comprehensive study of the development of the thoroughbred racehorse in Australia and New Zealand, particularly in the period following the Second World War. First published in 1980, the book examines the bloodlines, breeding practices and influential stallions that shaped the modern Australasian racehorse. Du Bourg analyses the major sire lines, exploring how speed, stamina and selective breeding influenced the performance of racehorses on the track and their value as breeding stock. The book includes detailed pedigree charts, photographs, a glossary and indexes of horses, making it a valuable reference for students of equine history, horse breeding and racing heritage. Revised editions published in 1985 and 1991 expanded the coverage to include more recent developments in thoroughbred breeding and the emergence of influential international bloodlines. It remains a useful historical reference on the evolution of the Australian and New Zealand thoroughbred industry.

This item is second-hand and is sold as is.
