His interests lay rather in the countryside, in primitive man and beast. This book is a period piece. The memories he here recalls - sporting memories for the most part, of a Horse and Field Artilleryman in the old India - can never be relived. These memories take shape as a series of charming sketches of the life of forest and mountainside.
