The Present Picture of New South Wales (1811) by David Dickenson Mann (D. D. Mann) is one of the earliest published accounts of life in the British colony of New South Wales. Written by a former convict who had spent time in the colony, the book provides a detailed and often critical description of the settlement, its government, economy, society, geography, agriculture, and natural environment during the early years of European colonisation.

Mann describes Sydney and surrounding districts, the conditions experienced by convicts and settlers, the challenges of farming, relations between different groups in the colony, and the opportunities and difficulties facing those living in Australia. His account offers valuable contemporary observations of the colony only a few decades after the arrival of the First Fleet, although it also reflects the prejudices and perspectives of an early nineteenth-century European writer. The book was part of a broader debate in Britain about the success of transportation, the treatment of convicts, and the future prospects of the Australian colonies.
